Srinagar, Aug 26, KONS – The Director, School Education, Kashmir has ordered that the Kashmiri shall be deemed as a compulsory subject from Class III to VIII in all educational institutions and shall carry a weight age equal to that of other academic subjects for purposes of assessment with pro rata distribution of marks in different academic spells like U1, U2, T1, U3 and T2.
The State Institute of Education and the DIETs shall ensure capacity building of the teachers in respect of teaching of Kashmiri.
All the Schools including private institutions shall take appropriate steps to ensure the instructional facilities pertaining to the subject of Kashmiri.
The students whose mother tongue is other than Kashmiri may opt for any other regional language for which Text Books have been prescribed by the State Board of School Education.
The students shall be required to pass any four subjects for promotion to next class.
Achievements in Kashmiri/regional language shall count for merit placements.
