Srinagar, July 10 (2008): Tragedy hit Hyderpora Thursday morning when in a killer stalker case, first of its kind in the city; a youth repeatedly stabbed an uptown girl in 20's killing her and attempted suicide by slitting his throat with the same sharp edged weapon, police said.
The incident occurred at Gulbahar Colony at 7:35 AM when the colony girl Sakina daughter of Abdul Qadri Khan walked out of her home to reach a school in Natipora where she worked as a teacher. But Irfan Ahmed Bhat of Fateh Kadal who was holding the knife, police said, intercepted her and in no time stabbed her.
She had barely walked some 50 steps when Irfan came in her way and attacked her, Humhama police post incharge, Imtiaz Ahmed told Greater Kashmir adding that a case has been filed.

He stabbed her repeatedly, around 40 times before slitting his won throat, he added. Screams on the colony lane attracted attention of Sakina's family who came out.
Finding her in a pool of blood, they rushed her to SMHS hospital where she breathed her last minutes later, police said.
However, Irfan, 30, who had slit his throat wasn't picked by anyone till police reached the spot.
We rushed him to SHMS where from he was taken to police hospital, police said.
Imtiaz, the police post incharge confirmed that the murder accused has received 15 stitches in his throat and wasn't able to speak. FIR vide number 344 of 2008 under section 307,341 and 309 has been filed against the accused at Budgam police station.
Irfan has been booked under a criminal case on charges, which includes murder and attempt to suicide.
Meanwhile, police which recovered Irfan's mobile phone has started investigations and is tracing the call records to find link if any with Sakina's murder.
We are investigating the call details, a top cop told Greater Kashmir.
City police chief SA Mujtaba who has dealt with some stalking incidents in Srinagar, in a police handout said: The incidents of stalking which were unknown in Kashmir are being reported frequently now.
Although police is capable enough to deal with the stalkers, Mujtaba said, the help and early information of the victim or victim's family regarding the stalker could help a lot.
He appealed the people to come forward and help police fight the menace.
